Since 1981, Hamilton-based T. A. Patterson & Associates has provided community-based substance abuse support to those involved in the criminal justice system. After being acquired internally, the new owners felt the time was right to invest in their brand story of hope.
Thrive was approached to develop a brand identity and visual style for T. A. Patterson in order to raise their profile in the community. The company had recently changed hands and the new owner felt it was time to give the company some brand presence as other similar firms were doing the same.
As a company funded by the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services, the organization would need their brand to project professionalism and competency. The challenge would be to have the brand stand out among ultra-conservative competitors as a compassionate service provider. It would also need to be approachable to potential clients, most of whom were aged 16 to 21.
Our solution was to differentiate the organization from competitors who, for the most part, appeared government-based and authoritative. The new logo depicts growth and the idea of people coming together. The brand colours, maroon and gold, set the organization apart in a marketplace dominated by blue, while still projecting a tone of professionalism and competency.
